Shea Butter

Shea butter comes from the fruit of the shea tree, a tree that grows primarily in the wild in the savannah of West Africa. Inside this fruit is a white, very oily kernel, which is pounded and then reduced to a paste before being immersed in boiling water. Once cooled, the collected substance is kneaded until it forms this very special, cream-colored, translucent paste, forming the butter we know today.

Used in traditional African cuisine, shea butter is especially renowned for its softening, soothing, and nourishing cosmetic properties. Extremely rich in various vitamins and latex (true!), it can be used as a protective balm, ointment, or oily cream to be applied to the skin, once it has been warmed in the palm of the hand.

Multi-season, it comes to the aid of chapped lips in winter, skin irritated by the sun in summer, and dry or damaged hair!
